In homage to Ana Mendieta's (1948-85) Silueta series, this work references the outline of the female body, burnt offerings and sacred markings. The opposite face of the wooden shape is painted in shades of blue in memory of the waters that both separated the artist from her homeland of Cuba and served as the healing ground for her identity crisis.
